Dr. Simone Peters

CO-FOUNDER & CLINICAL ADVISOR

The doctor behind Nerva

Dr. Simone Peters is a psychophysiologist and leading researcher in the gut-brain connection, with more than a decade of experience advancing the understanding and management of IBS and other disorders of gut-brain interaction through her work at Monash University and the Mind + Gut Clinic.

“When we look at the evidence around gut-directed hypnotherapy, we know that 80% of people respond to it, and most importantly, the improvements are maintained in the long term.”

To make this evidence-based approach more accessible, Dr. Peters co-founded Nerva, helping more people access gut-brain therapy from home.

Gut-brain therapy has been clinically shown to work just as well as the low-FODMAP diet.2

A study led by Dr. Simone Peters at Monash University helped establish gut-directed hypnotherapy as an evidence-based approach for IBS management.

Target gut symptoms at the source

Gut-brain therapy is a protocol to retrain the gut-brain connection, calm hypersensitivity, and support long-term symptom management.

Your gut is overly reactive

Food, stress, illness, poor sleep and other triggers can make the digestive system more sensitive and reactive.

Signals get amplified

When the gut and brain are on high alert, normal gut sensations can feel more intense and uncomfortable.

You experience symptoms

Bloating, pain, nausea and changes in bowel habits are real physical symptoms that can impact daily life.

Nerva helps retrain the connection.

Through gut-brain therapy, you can address communication pathways and calm sensitivity.

Less worry. More freedom.

When symptoms take up less space in your day, there's more room for the people, places and activities you love.
